About the Organization
General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital is located on Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, about 90 minutes southwest of St. Louis, MO. we are nestled in the Ozarks and offer a quality of life that is great for raising a family, outdoor activities, and retirement (when that day comes). We are a 65 bed hospital and we "serve those who serve us", in that we treat Active Duty Military, Retired Military, and their dependents. Just recently, we forged an agreement that now includes the treatment of veterans that qualify and were previously treated by the VA at various locations throughout Missouri. We offer an Employed Civilian Federal Position that is complete with the typical benefits that go along this type of appointment, to include a very competitive salary and bonus package, the best patients in the world, and a quality of life that most physicians never see in a civilian setting. THIS IS NOT A MILITARY or CONTRACTOR POSITION. Our civilian staff provides the continuity our patients deserve while our military providers deploy. We are "the best kept medical secret in the country" and truly appreciate the quality of care and compassion that our civilian providers offer.
About the Community
Located in the Ozarks, about 100 miles Southwest of St. Louis, Missouri, Fort Leonard Wood is close enough to do all of the large city activities, while still maintaining that attractive country lifestyle that attracts our families and others who enjoy the ability to "just get away". With an endless list of outdoor things to do, to include hunting, fishing, boating, canoeing, hiking......, there is truly no limit to what you can do. Weather is moderate in the winters, with temperatures averaging in the 40's and higher typically. It can get cold, but it doesn't stay cold for very long usually, allowing you to experience the four seasons, as well as the turning of the leaves in the fall, and that beautiful spring look that rebirths every year. Come and enjoy it with us!!!!
