Highland Medical Center is looking for a family practice or internal medicine physician for a part-time position.
The center is a rural clinic located in Monterey, Highland County, Virginia just west of Staunton. Highland County is mainly a farming community with abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation. The county has 2500 residents with approximately 250 children.
The center was originally built through local fund raising efforts in 1996, and became a Federally Qualified Community Health Center in 2002. The federal qualification allows the center to receive funds for care of indigent patients and provides the clinic with malpractice coverage through the FTCA (Federal Tort Claims Act). HMC is also a National Health Corps designated loan repayment center. The center is run by a local board of directors.
Clinic hours are week days Monday Friday from 8:00am until 4:00pm, Tuesdays, 8:00am until 7:00pm The clinic also houses a dental clinic, a small pharmacy, x-ray equipment with a telemetry link to UVa, physical therapy with exercise facility, and psychological services.
An electronic medical record system (eClinical Works) is in place and allows for remote access to patient records and messages.
Employment full-time entitles the employee to health and disability insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and retirement plan.
Part-time employees are entitled to the retirement plan and would be paid on a per diem basis.
