The VAMC is currently categorized as a Clinical Core Level III facility and operates 90 general medical, surgical and mental health beds. It also maintains a 69-bed Long Term Care unit. The medical center is responsible for approximately 171,814 veterans in its primary service area of 21 counties ranging from northeastern South Carolina to southeastern North Carolina. This covers over 13,100 square miles between the two states
