NORTON HEART & VASCULAR INSTITUTE, located in Louisville, Kentucky, is seeking a fellowship-trained
advanced heart failure cardiologist to join its expanding program. The ideal candidate will join our Advanced Heart Failure and Recovery Program, a 25-person multidisciplinary team that includes three board certified, fellowship-trained heart failure cardiologists, five heart failure advanced practice providers, three dedicated heart failure nurse navigators, a social worker, pharmacist, perfusionist and two ventricular assist device coordinators. Our experienced team of physicians and advanced practice providers has an average of 10 years of heart failure experience. Norton Heart & Vascular Institute is the areas largest
collaborative cardiovascular group, with 48 board certified physicians and 33 advanced practice providers,
and maintains more than 52% of the total cardiovascular market share in our primary service area.


About the position:
Management of patients who have heart failure with preserved systolic function and heart failure with reduced systolic function
Nocturnist Advanced Practice Providers in place to take first call and manage the calls coming from the IP unit at night
Ability to risk-stratify patients who need disease management, guideline-directed medical therapy or referral for advanced surgical options, including LVAD or heart transplantation
Knowledge of device management, including implantable cardioverter defibrillator and cardiac resynchronization therapy
Experience with heart failure monitoring tools, including the CardioMEMS HF system, ReDS system vest and LifeVest
Ability to perform right heart catheterizations and endomyocardial biopsies
Interest in temporary and permanent mechanical circulatory support, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)

This position features the following opportunities:
yCollaborate with hospital and communitywide initiatives around re-admission reduction and postacute care for heart failure patients
Support and manage heart transplant patients with pre- and posttransplant follow-up through the University of Kentucky shared care program
Collaborate with Norton Childrens Heart Institute, affiliated with UofL School of Medicine, to provide total congenital heart disease and mechanical circulatory support in conjunction with their pediatric
heart transplant program
Join current efforts participating in heart failure and transplant national research studies, including support for investigator-initiated projects.
Telecardiology services readily available
Straight salary compensation model in order to spend the time needed with this delicate patient population
Total compensation package that includes call pay, outreach pay, relocation reimbursement, continuing medical education funds, signing bonus for fellows and physicians located outside the market

Requirements for this position:
Medical degree/diploma
Residency/fellowship certification
Kentucky medical license or license eligible
