West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine, Department of Pathology, Anatomy Laboratory Medicine (PALM) seeks an academically-oriented Surgical Pathologist qualified for appointment as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to serve as the Director of Surgical Pathology. The successful candidate will report to the Section Chief of Anatomic Pathology. The candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
WVU PALM is a rapidly growing department consisting of faculty in Anatomic Pathology, Laboratory Medicine, Translational/Experimental Pathology, Anatomical Sciences and Medical Laboratory Sciences. The Department serves West Virginia University Hospitals, the premier regional referral center for West Virginia and parts of Pennsylvania and Maryland. The institution offers a collaborative professional environment, some of the world's most advanced technology, and highly regarded clinical programs.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of surgical pathology. Specialty areas of interest include but are not limited to breast gynecologic pathology, thoracic/pulmonary pathology, ENT pathology, and cytopathology. Additional academic interests in translational pathology, digital pathology, informatics and molecular pathology are welcomed. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. There is tremendous potential for candidates with a record of scholarly productivity to collaborate with faculty of the WVU Health Sciences center, which includes those in the WVU Cancer Institute and other signature programs. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, it is expected that candidates sustain an outstanding, extramurally supported research program.
Qualifications: Successful candidates must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in Pathology. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
