Job Description

Norton Childrens Neonatology has been in practice for more than 18 years. The practice is currently seeking several neonatal nurse practitioners to join 18 neonatologists, six neonatal nurse practitioners, three pediatricians, two physician assistants, one family nurse practitioner, two pediatric nurse practitioners, and 1 occupational therapist who round on nursery patients. The practice receives referrals from throughout Kentucky and Indiana at a 101-bed Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Norton Childrens Hospital and a 44-bed Level III NICU at Norton Womens Childrens Hospital. Through various partnerships, services also are provided at several Level II NICUs throughout the region.

Norton Childrens Neonatology is part of the Norton Healthcare system that includes more than 60 OB/GYN and advanced practice providers and delivers approximately 9,000 babies per year at its facilities. Norton Womens Childrens Hospital was recently named one of the top eight places to have a baby in the U.S. by Fit Pregnancy magazine. In addition, the Norton Childrens Hospital Just for Kids Transport Team provides neonatal transport services by ambulance, helicopter and airplane from hospitals throughout the region and is capable of transporting multiples.

Requirements for these positions


- Masters degree in nursing; completion of an APRN program
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification
- Level III IV NICU experience preferred
- Active current Kentucky APRN license/work permit
- Signed collaborative agreement and valid U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration number if writing prescriptions for controlled substances
- CPR certification
- 3 years of nursing experience with 1 year in specialty area
- Basic computer skills
