Senior Biomedical Engineer

Job Description

The Application Research and Technology (ART) Group at Midmark seeks an experimental scientist/engineer to take on a key role within our advanced R&D effort. Midmark is a leading provider of medical, dental and veterinary equipment solutions focused on continuously improving exam room workflow and enhancing patient-caregiver interactions. As a member of our ART Group, you will work on imaging applications and X-ray equipment for dental and veterinary applications as well as other research projects as needed in medical device development.

ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:
Solving cutting-edge technical challenges related to imaging and medical device research.
Ownership and lead responsibility related to the design, development, testing and delivery of integration of the image processing algorithms and technology project outcomes into Midmark products.
Adherence to and active participation in the continuous improvement of all research and product development policies and processes
Experimentation and investigation of new concepts and technologies for application potential in the markets that Midmark serve.
Participate in the analysis, model building, and system integration of project outcomes.
Algorithm development in the fields of image and signalr processing, machine learning, and data science.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
Lead research projects
Participate in budgeting and project planning



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
M.Sc. degree in Physics or related STEM discipline with 3+ years of experience in an R&D environment. Ph.D. preferred.

COMPETENCY/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Proven ability to build, debug, and operate complex experimental setups
Experience in the development of X-ray systems is desired, CT in particular
Knowledge of data analysis tools such as MatLab
Object oriented programming in C++
Ability to communicate methods and results to both technical and nontechnical audiences verbally and in writing
Hands-on laboratory experience
Image formation and analysis
Signal processing
Algorithm development, especially image reconstruction algorithms
Graphical data processing
