Mercy Health Physicians-Youngstown is seeking an experienced and capable Cardiothoracic Surgeon to lead a growing program and replace a departing surgeon. Candidates must be fellowship trained and board certified with a passion for cardiac and thoracic surgery and experience in minimally invasive surgery including TAVR, complex valve repair and replacement, minimally invasive valve surgery, aortic procedures including complex aneurysms and dissections, VATS and coronary artery bypass grafting is preferred. Ideal candidates are individuals with a minimum of 5 years of surgical experience and demonstrated success in leading and working in collaboration with cardiologists for on-going development, growth and oversight of a program. As the program continues to grow a third surgeon will be recruited in the near future.
The Mercy Health Physicians Youngstown Heart & Vascular program has a total of 15 employed cardiologists with 4 interventional cardiologists and 3 EP specialists. Additionally, 3 BC Vascular Surgeons are part of the service. There are also several community-based heart and vascular specialists. The Mercy physician group conducts more than 275 cardiac cases and 125 thoracic cases annually with tremendous room to grow, especially on the thoracic side. The hospital is a Level 1 trauma center, is a certified stroke center, also chest pain certified with PCI, and the only sepsis center of excellence in Ohio. A hybrid room will be completed by the end of the calendar year and a Da Vinci Si robot is available for use.
There is an active, busy valve clinic and a multidisciplinary solitary pulmonary nodule clinic being developed with plans to open in the next year. March 1 was our first TAVR and 14 have been completed thus far.
Office conveniently located adjacent to the hospital. Call is 1:2. Support from 3 Advanced Practice Clinicians. Only cover one hospital. No buy in, no overhead, no seniority issues.
