Job Description
Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) seeks to recruit the next Chief of the Department of Pediatric Urology. This prestigious appointee will lead a Department comprised of nine full time clinical faculty including one Professor, four Associate Professors, three Assistant Professors, and one Instructor. The Urology faculty care for approximately 20,000 patients and perform approximately 2,600 operative cases annually across nine locations. BCH is a 415-bed comprehensive center for pediatric health care. As one of the largest pediatric medical centers in the United States, Boston Children's offers a complete range of health care services for children from birth through 21 years of age, and in some cases, into adulthood. The hospital has approximately 23,000 inpatient admissions each year and its 250+ specialized clinical programs schedule 700,000 visits annually. In 2019, the hospital performed more than 29,000 surgical procedures. As one of the premier pediatric teaching hospitals in the world, BCH is affiliated with Harvard Medical School (HMS), and is known for its ongoing commitment to foster cutting-edge research. Consistent with this mission, the Urology Department employs six full time researchers. Interested candidates should have a distinguished record of clinical excellence, teaching and scholarly accomplishment consistent with a HMS appointment at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor, the latter with credentials approaching the professorial level. A keen understanding of clinical operations and ability to manage a significant financial and operating budget is desired. Candidates must be board certified in Urology with subspecialty certification in Pediatric Urology, and eligible for licensure without restriction within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
