The Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) is a consolidated health care system that includes VA Medical Centers in Montgomery and Tuskegee Alabama as well as Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) in Dothan Alabama, Ft. Rucker Alabama, Monroeville, Alabama and Columbus Georgia. The primary duty station for this position is at the Montgomery Campus. The incumbent will be required to work on site at the other locations as required. You may be eligible to apply for the Education Debt Reduction Program. Qualifications Required Basic Requirements:   Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.   BLS/ACLS: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification is required. Board Certification/Eligible: Board certification or eligibility in Pulmonary Medicine. Preferred Experience: Minimum of one-year direct patient care post fellowship. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).  Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard.  This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Permanent Change of Station Expenses are authorized for this position. The Department of Veteran Affairs offers Permanent Change of Station (PCS) relocation services. Permanent Change of Station authorization includes the relocation of a household and travel expenses to new location due to government convenience in connection with a transfer between duty stations or facilities. PCS expenses for non-VA employees are limited. Physical Requirements:  Standing, walking, lifting light loads, assisting patients with positioning and transfers. Must be able to use a computer to input orders, review reports etc. Must be able to communicate directions and patient orders. Light lifting (under 15lbs), light carrying (under 15lbs), use of fingers, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other, hearing (aid permitted), emotional stability, mental stability, working closely with others, working alone, and working with biohazardous materials.
