Job Description
The University of Vermont College of Medicine and University of Vermont Health Network are seeking a full-time faculty member as a Clinical Practice Physician or at the Assistant Professor level, non-tenure Clinical Scholar Pathway, to join an enthusiastic team of professionals providing hospital psychiatry services in a community hospital. The hospital operates fifteen adult inpatient psychiatry beds in association with inpatient services at the University of Vermont Medical Center and the Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital, both of which are staffed independently. Inpatient psychiatric consultation to the medical and surgical patients is provided, as well as psychiatric services for the emergency department. The psychiatry program at CVMC is a clerkship site for University of Vermont medical students. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing psychiatric evaluations, providing pharmacologic management, and contributing to the interdisciplinary collaboration in the program. Opportunities for teaching of medical students and residents are available for interested applicants. The ability to work collaboratively is an essential qualification, as is an appreciation of the value of interdisciplinary interventions and the role of multiple therapeutic modalities in the treatment of the patient. An interest in systems of care is encouraged. Knowledge of evidence-based medical practice and prior experience in hospital psychiatry is necessary. Applicants must have a medical degree, be eligible for medical licensure in Vermont, and be board certified (preferable) or board eligible in psychiatry. Certification in Addiction, Geriatric, or Consultation Psychiatry is desirable but not required. Berlin, Vermont is located in beautiful northern Vermont, surrounded by the Green, White, and Adirondack Mountains. Lake Champlain provides wonderful recreational opportunities and the region is a great place for families. The area is home to several universities and colleges that provide an academically stimulating and culturally rich environment. Montreal and Boston are within easy driving distances.
