Job Description

New Jersey Witt/Kieffer has been retained by Hackensack University Health Network (HackensackUHN) to assist in their recruiting efforts for their inaugural Chief, Infection Prevention and Control (Chief). HackensackUHN is the largest provider of inpatient and outpatient services in the state of New Jersey. Led by the flagship, Hackensack University Medical Center (HackensackUMC), it has continued to grow while maintaining a reputation for excellence and innovation in care. HackensackUMC, a 775-bed teaching and research hospital, is ranked as one of the top 30 hospitals in the nation. They recently announced a partnership with Seton Hall University to open a private medical school in New Jersey which will further elevate the medical center to a top academic health care institution. With a mission to promote a safe and healthy environment by eliminating preventable harm to patients, staff and visitors, the Chief will be responsible for overall enhancements to the current infection prevention and control program specifically in the implementation of infection control and process improvement efforts to reduce health care-associated infections; implementation of outbreak response efforts and reduction of multi-drug-resistant organisms; enhancement of clinician education with regard to infection control principles, interpretation of epidemiologic data, and clinical safety and effectiveness; enhancement of collaboration with other clinical and non-clinical departments and programs throughout the Network to improve infectious outcomes; evaluating cost-value outcomes for infection prevention efforts; and implementation of efforts to improve utilization of infection surveillance tests and processes. The balance of his/her efforts will to enhance the department s educational programs for medical staff, fellows, residents and medical students and advance the department participation in research and publications. The successful candidate will be a MD/DO with subspecialty training and certification in infectious diseases. S/he will have a minimum of five years experience in hospital infection control and epidemiology as well as demonstrated leadership and a national reputation as an expert clinician in the field with a record of scholarly accomplishments. S/he will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a core personal and professional commitment to education and teaching.
