Seeking a 7th, full-time, BC/BE Pediatric Intensivist to provide 24/7 in-house care for our 25 bed, multidisciplinary PICU in the only free-standing Children's Hospital in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The PICU at CHKD admits over 1200 patients a year with an approximate 50/50 split between medical and surgical admissions. We have a moderate sized Cardiovascular Surgical service and provide the only PICU training site for a variety of Residents. CHKD has an active Pediatric Residency program of over 60 housestaff. The successful candidate will care for the full spectrum of Pediatric Critical Care, including post-operative Cardiac Surgical Care. Special consideration and preference will be given to candidates with additional specialized training in Cardiac Intensive Care. This is a unique PICU position within a tertiary, free-standing children's hospital with a focus on expert clinical care and education within the Department of Pediatrics, Eastern Virginia Medical School.
