FACULTY POSITION Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is a 453 bed public hospital operated by the County of Los Angeles, Department of Health Services. The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is the second largest municipal health system in the nation. The Division of Medical Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics at Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is seeking a Geneticist to join an established academic program. Serving 1.5 million people, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is a large academic health center with the only level I pediatric and adult trauma center in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. The hospital has a 28-bed general pediatrics unit, a 10-bed PICU, a Level III+ NICU, a pediatric emergency department, and the full range of pediatric and surgical subspecialties. Our mission encompasses medical education, clinical service, research, and advocacy. The successful candidate will deliver outpatient and inpatient care for individuals with genetic conditions, from birth to adulthood. The Division of Medical Genetics is part of the UCLA Intercampus Medical Genetics Training Program and has one of five Newborn Screening Area Service Centers supported by the California Department of Public Health Genetic Disease Screening Program. The Division of Genomic Outcomes in the Department of Pediatrics and the Institute for Translational Genomics and Population Sciences at the Lundquist Institute have opportunities for productive research collaborations. Candidates must have an MD/DO degree, be ABMGG eligible or certified in Clinical Genetics and in Medical Biochemical Genetics, and be eligible for a California medical license. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. Faculty appointment is with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. The successful applicant will also be a member of The Lundquist Institute, one of the largest independent biomedical research institutions in the US, with over $80 million of extramural funding awarded each year. There is the potential for federally supported loan repayment for the successful candidate. Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is located in the city of Torrance, a city in the Southwestern (South Bay) region of LA County. Its neighboring cities are Lomita, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills, and Palos Verdes. The city has over 30 city parks and includes a total of 1.5 miles of beaches on the Pacific Ocean. It has an estimated population of over 145,000 residents.
