Job Description

University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Seidman Cancer Center, Case Western Reserve University. The Seidman Cancer Center at University Hospitals Case Medical Center and the NCI-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center of Case Western Reserve University seeks a highly qualified medical oncology clinical investigator to serve as Medical Director of the multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology Disease Team. The Medical Director will be responsible for coordination of multidisciplinary care, quality, and clinical research at the Seidman Cancer Center main campus and regional sites. The Medical Director will have a faculty appointment in the Division of Hematology and Oncology of the Department of Medicine at University Hospitals Case Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University. The Division of Hematology and Oncology, University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, and the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center provide a rich environment for clinical investigation. A robust centralized infrastructure for clinical trials and translational science core facilities support clinical investigators. Active scientific programs in drug discovery and developmental therapeutics, cancer imaging, molecular oncology, and medical decision making, and investments in genomic medicine facilitate clinical research. The Case Comprehensive Cancer Center holds an NCI U10 contract with the National Clinical Trials Network, and a UM1 with the Early Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network, providing access to CTEP agents. The Thoracic Oncology Disease Team maintains a tissue bank and annotated genomic database that serves as a basis for discovery and translational science. This cohesive group of medical, radiation, and surgical oncologists, pulmonologists, advanced practice nurses, radiologists, and pathologists, has a dedicated weekly tumor board with videoconferencing to all Seidman sites. The successful candidate will be provided with competitive salary, and protected time for scientific and administrative effort. Candidates should be clinical investigators appropriate for Associate or Full Professor rank, and must be US Board Eligible or Certified in Medical Oncology. Faculty at the Associate Professor level should have a significant track record of academic accomplishment and professional reputation, and rank of Professor requires national recognition.
