Successful candidates will have demonstrated outstanding potential for impactful discovery and leadership in research of high relevance to pediatric IBD or celiac disease as evidenced by high-quality publications and a record of extramural career development. Faculty scholars will be expected to develop independent research programs advancing impactful discovery in pediatric IBD or celiac disease, work collaboratively with Center clinicians and scientists, and participate in the training and mentorship of students and post-doctoral fellows. Opportunities for clinical service activities in the Division are available for board-certified M.D. pediatric gastroenterologist physician-scientist candidates. The Center is supported by a transformative philanthropic gift to enable an intramural research seed grant and post-doctoral fellow award program, multiple scientific faculty recruitments, laboratory space, and a comprehensive patient biobank and data repository. Center programs and resources support world-class investigators to point their scientific lenses towards pediatric IBD and celiac disease. The successful applicant will collaborate with the clinical arm of the Center which includes pediatric gastroenterologists, physician-scientists, allied health professionals, and clinical data analysts who provide world-class clinical care to a large population of children with IBD and celiac disease. Stanford University is one of the world's leading biomedical research universities. Our collaborative culture and investment in interdisciplinary science is evidenced by many institutes that span school boundaries to foster new ideas and innovative research including CheM-H (Chemistry, Engineering & Medicine for Human Health), Stanford Bio-X intersecting bioscience with engineering, computer science, and other fields), and The Stanford Center for Clinical and Translational Research and Education (Spectrum), and the Institute for Immunity, Transplantation, and Infection, which houses the Center for Human Microbiome Studies. Opportunities exist to collaborate with Stanford investigators at the forefront of innovation in fields highly relevant to pediatric IBD and celiac disease including immunology, microbiology, epithelial biology, computational biology, and data science. We expect the successful candidate to serve as a member of the Pediatric, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition Division at Stanford Medicine Children's Health with responsibilities for research and teaching in the fields of IBD and/or celiac disease. S/he/they will join a nationally recognized group of pediatric gastroenterologists who provide clinical care and perform research within multidisciplinary gastroenterology, nutrition, hepatology, and liver transplantation programs.
