Job Description
Jefferson Health is seeking a transformational, innovative, and collaborative leader with a strong educational, clinical and research foundation to serve in the newly created position of Enterprise Chief of Cardiology (Chief). Jefferson Health originated in May 2015 as Jefferson and Abington Health, a complex regional teaching hospital merged. It will grow with the recently announced merger with Aria Health, and the planned addition of Kennedy Health, based in southern New Jersey in 2017. Jefferson Health now comprises five hospitals, 13 outpatient and urgent care centers, as well as physician practices, delivering care throughout the city and suburbs of Philadelphia, Montgomery and Bucks counties in Pennsylvania, as well as southern New Jersey and Delaware. Once Aria and Kennedy are full members of Jefferson Health, the health system will comprise 11 hospitals. In the present configuration, these facilities serve more than 78,000 inpatients, 238,000 emergency patients and 1.7 million outpatient visits annually. Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is the largest freestanding academic medical center in Philadelphia. Abington Hospital is the largest community teaching hospital in Montgomery or Bucks counties. Other hospitals in Jefferson Health include Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience in Center City Philadelphia The Chief will serve as a leader in advancing clinical operations, transforming care delivery in cardiology and partnering with cardiac surgery in the advancement of integrated care on behalf of patients across the system and throughout the region. As a leader in the delivery of cardiovascular care, the Chief will set a vision for the Division of Cardiology at Jefferson University Hospital and the Clinical Research Integrated Strategic Plan (CRISP) through the advancement of clinical programs, education and research while continuing to meet and exceed national standards of excellence. The CRISP is an emerging strategic vision for cardiac surgery and vascular surgery, clinical cardiology and clinical vascular medicine to be integrated with clinical and basic science research across the enterprise that is Jefferson Health. The CRISP will be jointly led by the Enterprise Chiefs of Cardiac Surgery and Cardiology as a cohesive and discreet organization, with a unique P L and set of strategies and objectives. The Chief is required to have an MD or MD/PHD from an accredited institution and must be board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. The successful candidate will be an outstanding academic leader, respected clinician and researcher with demonstrated ability to effectively inspire, manage, mentor and develop a culturally diverse faculty and staff.
