Division Chief of Neurology Passionate about the advances of Alzheimer’s Care? Join a Nationally Recognized Neurology Program Faculty Leader for the UMass Chan Neurology Based Program UMass Memorial Health — the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School and the largest health care system in central Massachusetts — is actively seeking an innovative physician-scientist leader specialized in dementia and cognitive neuroscience to head the Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia and Cognitive Neurology program for the Department of Neurology in Worcester, MA. The ideal candidate for this leadership role should be a neurologist/scientist with proven program-building expertise and current R01 funding or has the demonstrated proficiency to obtain NIH funding. The incoming Division Chief, Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia and Cognitive Neurology will lead and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of board-certified educators, scientists, and clinicians from Neurology, Neuroscience, and Psychiatry to provide groundbreaking prevention strategies, as well as comprehensive care and support for patients with progressive neurodegenerative dementias and cognitive disorders. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate in advancing and contributing to the continuous developments in neurological diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease. UMass Chan Neurology Program Highlights: * Protected time for research, as well as tenure and non-tenure track faculty appointments, available based on candidate’s interests and qualifications. * Access to clinical trials and research studies for Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias at the UMass Right Brain Research Laboratory in Worcester. * Neurology Research Areas include cognitive neuroscience and dementia, epilepsy, neurocritical care, stroke, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, brain development, gene therapy in neurological disorders, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, shared decision making and neuro-prognostication, and traumatic brain injury. * Neurology Training programs develop the next generation of neurologists as expert clinicians, inquisitive neuroscientists, and dedicated educators. Subspecialty fellowship programs also provided by the department. * A new biomedical research and education facility will support more than 70 principal investigators studying dementia and neurodegenerative diseases, with particular expertise in genetic, microglial, microbiome, and neuroinflammatory contributors to these disorders. * UMass Chan recognized as Boston Globe’s Top Places to Work and named to Forbes’ list of Best Employers in Massachusetts. The Position: The successful candidate should be an expert in clinical management of cognitive neurology with a regional, national, or international reputation and a record of clinical and administrative leadership in the academic medical care setting. Candidates from backgrounds historically underrepresented in medicine are highly encouraged to apply. Maintaining the tradition of Alzheimer’s Research UMass has important history of dementia history. Professional Qualifications: - Terminal Degree Required: MD, DO, MD/PhD degree, or equivalent medical degree. - Current Board Certification or Eligibility in Neurology. - Unrestricted Massachusetts Medical License (current or eligible). - Minimum of five (5) years’ clinical, research experience in cognitive Neurology and Neurological disorders. Preferred candidates will have previous leadership experience.
