San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) is an integrated delivery system where we are mission centered and focused on constant quality improvement. We have a patient-centered, team based model with an emphasis on prevention of disease, promotion of health, and management of chronic disease. We use data to help us focus and drive improvement. We support provider and staff development and growth. Our clinics include physicians trained in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics. SMMC serves as a key provider within the Health Plan of San Mateos (HPSM) public/private network. Our integrated delivery system includes a fully accredited acute care hospital that includes ED, PES, OR, endoscopy, and short stay unit, 7 bed ICU, general medical/ surgical unit (62-bed capacity) acute inpatient psychiatry (34 beds), on-campus skilled nursing unit (32 beds); and 11 clinics located across the Countys diverse and dispersed population. Current residents of an accredited Family Practice or Internal Medicine Residency Program may apply prior to graduating from the program. Several San Mateo Medical Center clinics are accredited as National Health Services Corps (http://nhsc.hrsa.gov/) sites and benefit from scholarships and loan repayment programs through this network.
