Phelps County Regional Medical Center opened in 1951 with the goal of providing quality health care for residents of the Rolla community and the surrounding area. Rolla, Missouri is located halfway between St. Louis and Springfield, on I44, and 65 miles south of Jefferson City, Missouri's state capital. Described by the Chamber of Commerce as being in the Middle of Everywhere, Rolla, and the surrounding area, provides a safe, clean, attractive community in which values of family, community, hard work and education remain strong. Surrounded by the beauty of the Ozarks and some of the most accessible spring-fed streams in the United States, Phelps County, of which Rolla is the county seat, boasts more miles of trout streams than any other county in the state. There is strong support of education and the arts. This is also the home of the University of Missouri-Rolla, one of the top engineering schools in the country.
